Molchat Doma - Этажи

Hello everyone, welcome back to the blog... and today I finally get to review the legendary Этажи (pronounced: etazhi)!!! Ever since I discovered Molchat Doma, I have always had a soft spot for this album. It it so well made and absolutely incredible. But let me explain why it is...

Kicking off the album, we have На Дне. It starts off with a powerful, juicy synth bass and then a higher pitched lead synth. The beat is a bit slower, but is an absolute banger of a track!

Also this is the opening track of the album, yet it seems to always played at the end of concerts.

Anyway, the next song is Танцевать. It is super high energy and it is humanly impossible for me to not bop my head at the beginning drums. This song is once again, absolutely amazing!! Though what's ironic about this song is that it's title means "to dance", and the chorus says "I can not dance".

Фильмы brings back the slower beat, but the epic bassline. Another great song, very simple, but very effective.

Волны felt very heavy, as the vocals were much louder and the instrumental much more powerful. It felt as if you are lost, and can't find a way out, and in the meanwhile someone, or something is chasing you. That's the vibe I get from this song.

Moving on, Тоска had a faster beat, similiar to Танцевать, only this time having a more melancholic instrumental, instead of a vibe-y...? one. Another great song!

Прогноз was another upbeat song, with a similiar vibe to, once again, Танцевать. The synths in this song were absolutely top notch, and have a certain charm to them. It creates a certain atmosphere, exclusive to this track.

And now, the infamous Судно. The fast paced beat, the amazing guitar work... and then the frickin' lyrics, man! Just... yes. As I mentioned in my Music These Days Is Tasteless video, this song is dedicated to a poet who commited suicide, the lyrics talking about a failed attempt at doing so, and yet this song is an absolute bop.

Moving on, the a bit underwellming, Коммерсанты. It's mainly driven by some synth pads, and not much else. A pretty OK track.

And finally, the beautifully melancholic, Клетка. This. Is. My. Favourite. Molchat Doma. Song. There. Is. It is absolutely amazing. If I could, I would listen to it forever, and still wouldn't get bored of it. That's how good it is!

So, as you can see, I have absolutely praised this album, to the Moon and back, but it does suffer from one thing. The production, still suffers slightly, as especially the vocals feel a bit "blurry". Apart from that, this album is A M A Z I N G ! !

The End of Electronics - Union

  Welcome back everyone to my blog. Today I will be reviewing The End of Electronics' first album, Union. As I mentioned in my   Voskhod review , I found out about this one-man band because of my affinity with Molchat Doma. I listened to his first album, and have to say... this album is pretty good. Not the best, but still really good. Let's dive deeper into it, shall we?  Kicking off the album is Night. It has a really interesting vibe to it, feeling like it's the beginning of your journey, and look out the window of your vehicle, you see rural areas and small towns. That's the feel thus song gives me. It has an amazing chorus instrumental and is just overall really well made!  Moving on, we have the oddly melancholic Union. Not that there is anything bad with that, but the instrumental gives me a sadder vibe. It really cool, it feels like the journey has taken a break, and you stopped at a gas station. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Volume II

Greetings everyone! Quick disclaimer, this will be a long post, so grab yourself some tea while you read. Anyway, today I will be reviewing Aphex Twin's second album, Selected Ambient Works Volume II. After the amazing EP that was 85-92 , I had high hopes for this album. With that being said, let's get straight into the review. Right off the bat, Cliffs (I will be referring to the fan names) was a great start to the album, it's main motif being a woman's vocals being repeated constantly over the soothing ambient chords. I could hear the woman say "песня" (pesnya), which means song in Russian. Then suddenly, Radiator was a pretty creepy song, with a repeating melody that sounded like a stock phone alarm for some reason. Even though it had some very eerie chords, it was overall a pretty enjoyable track. But then, after the song had ended, Rhubarb's calm, welcoming chords started playing, giving me a comforting feel and was overall just a super chill, meditat...
