Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's final album, The Endless River. This record was released 20 years after The Division Bell, which was considered the band's final release, but no. This album was comprised of scraps and instrumentals from The Division Bell sessions, also featuring only one song with vocals. Let's see how this record sounds then... We open on Things Left Unsaid, a pretty nice ambient opener. I'm starting to see a pattern here, that with every album during this David Gilmour-led era, we open on an ambient song. Anyway, this is pretty nice. It's What We Do sounds like a cheap knock-off of Welcome To The Machine. Ebb And Flow is a short section with not that much to it. Sum is a pretty nice rock song. And Skins, Unsung and Anisina sounds pretty much the same. The Lost Art Of Conversation has some pretty nice strings and pianos. On Noodle Street is actually pretty jazzy. Definetly a highlight of the record. N...

  Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing the penultimate album from Pink Floyd, The Division Bell. This would be the band's last album in 20 years, and last with founding member, Richard Wright. Let's see what this album has to offer. We open the album similiar to it's predecessor, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason , with Cluster One, a very nice, atmospheric opener. We find airy synth chords and reverberated guitar plucks. Next we have What Do You Want From Me. A very dramatic song that sounds like some of the deeper cuts from A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. Loud, echoey, and overall, not Pink Floyd. Coming up, we find Poles Apart, a song that is way too long, and we don't even find anything interesting. Marooned brings us something reminiscent of Us And Them from The Dark Side Of The Moon . Definetly one of their best songs from this era. A Great Day For Freedom is a rather boring song. Not that much to say, I can't find anything special about ...

  Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. After a messy lawsuit battle between Roger Waters and the rest of the band, David Gilmour took charge of the group moving forward. This was their first release during this period. Let's see how it sounds. We open of Signs Of Life, greeting us with river noises and powerful synth chords. A surprising opener to this album. The synths remind me of the ones on Welcome To The Machine. In contrast to the moody atmosphere of the opener, Learning To Fly is loud and in your face. We have reverb drenched drum machines and synth chords to back up the guitar and vocals. Yup, this album is very 80s. And whilst I love the 80s, this song sounds very outdated. The Dogs Of War sounds exactly like Learning To Fly, but this time we open on an ominous marching melody, and it generally sounds a bit more epic, compared to the previous track.   Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing The Final Cut. This album is often considered a lesser version of The Wall . Personally, I don't find The Wall itself that impressive. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Anyway, let's see how this album stands up. We open on The Post War Dream. A slow, organ driven song and soft vocals. Nothing else to say here. Your Possible Pasts is a decent rock song, with a nice guitar solo. But it generally doesn't have that much substance. One Of The Few is a short acoustic guitar interlude. Pretty nice song. When The Tigers Broke Free was a decent song, but it was too dramatic. The vocals were awful on this track, and the instrumental was just way too overblown. The Hero's Return was a mediocre song. The vocals were also pretty bad here as well. The Gunner's Dream was actually pretty nice. The saxophone on here was very smooth, and the slow beat added to the atmosph...

Oh baby, The Wall. This giant. Let's get to it! In The Flesh? opens the album with a melancholic hard rock song. Slowly, towards the end, a lot of noise and static kicks in. Then we have The Thin Ice. A slow, piano driven song with rather mean vocals, as if he's mocking us, and then, a loud guitar solo kicks in. After that, a reverberated bassline kicks in, accompanied by whispering vocals. An overall very moody and suspenseful song. After that, The Happiest Days Of Our Lives brings in another groovy bassline, building up into we don't need no education . Next we have Mother, a nice rock song. Goodbye Blue Sky is a dramatic song, with a generally very dark feel to it. Empty Spaces is very empty, until the guitar kicks in, transitioning into Young Lust, a groovy song, with some epic vocals. One Of My Turns is a bit weird. Odd vocals, and a decent instrumental. Don't Leave Me Now also sounded a bit weird. Another Brick In The Wall Part 3 is just a shorter and more aggress...

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, we are reviewing the third album in Pink Floyd's Big 4, Animals. This record was fueled by political instability and the displeasure with the goverment that the band had at the time. Tensions between Mr. Roger Waters, lead writer and bassist of the group, and Mr. Richard Wright, piano player of the group, were rising, later leading to Wright getting temporarily fired for a short amount of time. Let's see how this album sounds. We start with Pigs On The Wing Part 1, a short acoustic song, with an overall really warm feel. The previous song lasted just over a minute and a half. The next song, Dogs lasts 17 minutes... yeah. In this album, the band talks about the three classes of society: Pigs, Dogs and Sheep, in this descending order. We start with a nice, slower rock song, talking about a metaphorical Dog, who is growing older and older, getting more and more paranoid, and he grows older, he starts getting darker and darker though...

  Yup, we're here. The Dark Side Of The Moon. The album that is often considered to be the best album of all time. As always, I don't have anything else to say here at the beginning, so how about we dive head first into this record. We start the album with Speak To Me, which at first sounds like a collection of noises with no direction, but in reality, it's a foreshadowing of future events that will take place during the album. Cash registers from Money, clocks from Time, and then towards the end, Ms. Clare Torry's screaming vocals from The Great Gig In The Sky. Thus transitioning into Breathe. A slow, soft rock song with flutes, beautiful piano melodies, and an overall serene feel to it. Then the vocals appear, talking about how your still young, and still so much to do in your life. And then, all of a sudden, the beat gets faster, and a repeating synth melody. Loud footsteps echo here and there, a woman announcing different flights show that we are in an airport. Engi...

  Welcome back everyone to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's Obscured By Clouds. Not that many people talk about this album, as it is sandwiched inbetween Meddle and TDSOTM. But, hey! We have to get through it if we wanna reach The Big 4. We start the album rather weakly with the title track, it's a slow guitar driven song, with little substance to it. The drums aren't anything special either. Really mediocre track. The next song is When You're In, which is, unfortunately, another mediocre track. Little to no substance at all. Burning Bridges was much better, featuring the first vocals of the album, and a slow, but groovy feel to it. The guitar sounded so nice on this track and drums were surprisingly soothing. A great song overall, also love the guitar solo towards the end. The Gold It's In The... was a really classic rock song. Just epic rock. That's all. Next we have Wots... Uh The Deal was a calm track.   Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's Meddle. I have heard a lot of people saying that this is the precursor to the legendary, Dark Side of The Moon. Well then, let's see if it is so. Starting off the album, we have One Of Those Days, which starts with an energetic bassline and a powerful wind blowing in the background, also featuring  occasional organ chords. And then, at the 2 minute mark, a guitar emerges from beneath, however it is quickly filtered to sound like it's "stuttering". Finally, the track turns into a proper Pink Floyd rock song. A Pillow Of Winds was a simple, yet rather long, mainly acoustic song. Yeah, it was good. Fearless was a not so acoustic song, this time featuring actual percussion, however it still maintained it's calm demeanour, and then just before the 5 minute mark, a crowd starts singing.  Hello everyone, welcome to my music blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother. After the disaster that was Ummagumma, I am expecting a step up compared to that awful record. Let's just say that this album was something else. The first song is Atom Heart Mother Suite ,   so it doesn't count as a title track! Anyway this 23 minute monster starts with a powerful horn lead, followed by a much more quite synth driven section, which is then followed by a stellar guitar solo by David Gilmour, accompanied by some more horns. Then a choir takes the lead for the next 5 minutes with a hauntingly amazing performance. After that, a much more laid-back, guitar driven section, with some really nice organs backing it up. A few voices come forth to act as the bridge between this calmer part and a horn driven part. The horns are then followed by an incredible creepy section, featuring ominous sound effects, odd synth sounds and the sounds of living creatures. What'...

 Greetings, my friends. I welcome you back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's third album and first without founding member, Syd Barrett, Ummagumma. For those wondering what the name means, it's supposedly Cambridge slang for s3x, most commonly used by a friend of Pink Floyd, Iain Moore. That's odd, given the contents of the album. Let's see what those contents are... Now, the first 4 tracks of the record are live performances, 3 of which being songs from the previous two albums, as such I will not be discussing them. However, the other track is a new one, that would only be heard during live concerts. Careful With That Axe Eugene has a slow, calming start, that is broken around the three minute mark, by some almost demonic sounding screeches, combined with a great guitar solo. This energetic motif would go one until around the six minute mark, where the calmer melody returns, and would continue until the rest of the song. A great track overall. Next, w...

Greetings everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's second studio album, A Saucerful of Secrets. Not much else to say, let's just jump into it. Starting off the album, we have Let There Be More Light, which starts off with a really catchy bass melody, of all things. And only after more than a minute, does Pink Floyd bring in a lead guitar. The riff towards the end is just amazing, the distortion and reverb make the guitar sound so heavy and spacey. The drums are especially powerful in this song, and I love how the song gets more and more chaotic as the track ends. Remember A Day was a pretty calm track, with some surprisingly soothing vocals and lovely piano melody. The bass sounds really nice on this track, and so does the guitar, only this time, it's a bit quiter. Set The Control For The Heart of The Sun was an abstract song, with some quiet drums, calm bassline and a piano driven lead, also incorporating SFX. This is another great track. ...

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, we are starting a new discography for the legendary prog rock band, Pink Floyd. Once again, similiar to how I was introduced to Aphex Twin , Jojo was the main reason I checked out their music. They did not disappoint at all. And now with that my  blog exists, I can talk about their beautiful discography (At the time of writing this post, I have already listened to all of their albums, up until The Wall). With that being said, let's jump straight into the review. We start with the thumping Astronomy Domine. This track was very energetic and had some very nice sounding guitar. Little to no lyrics are sang in this song, and are instead replaced by samples and loud guitars. A pretty good start to the album. Next we have Lucifer Sam. This song's instrumental had an almost Gorillaz-sounding feel to it. The dark guitar melodies and powerful drums made for a relatively OK track. Moving on, we have Matilda Mother.
