Top 10 Depresión Sonora Songs

Image
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be ranking my personal top 10 favourite Depresión Sonora songs. I don't have anything else to say, apart from the fact that Depresión Sonora only has 10 songs, so I'm basically ranking his entire discography. 10)  Hay Que Abandonar Este Lugar: This is my least favourite  Depresión Sonora track, but that's not to say that it's bad, but it just feels like a not so good version of the song that was before it on the album, that being  Mira Mis Ojos. 9) La Casa de Arbol: This track just felt boring, and even the vocals are great, the guitar pull down the song. 8)  Tu No Me Tienes Que Salvar: Once again, this track just felt a bit boring and didn't do much for me. 7)  Generación Perdida, Diversión Prohibida: This song has a more melancholic feel to it and feels a bit nostalgic for some reason. I love the synths and guitar in this track.   6)  Dime Que Me Odias: Now we've gotten into the truly amazing tracks. This

Depresión Sonora - Historias Tristes Para Dormir Bien

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Depresión Sonora's second album, Historias Tristes Para Dormir Bien. I really don't have anything else to say, so let's just jump in. The first song we have is Apocalipsis Virtual. It a great   beginning to this record. It has a catchy melody and an overall great vibe. Sorry for not having too much say about these tracks, but Depresión Sonora's songs are rather simple, and that's their charm. Next we have Generación Perdida, Diversión Prohibida is a much more melancholic track compared to Apocalipsis Virtual. Still, it has a really nice, and soothing guitar lead. La Casa del Arbol was a rather forgetable track, in my opinion. The melodies didn't do much for me. In comparison, Gasolina y Mechero is a short, but upbeat track with a great guitar lead and a generally nice vibe. And finally, we have Tu No Me Tienes Que Salvar. This track was a bit slower and was quite as memorable as the other track

Queen - Sheer Heart Attack

Image
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Queen's third album, Sheer Heart Attack. Their previous album, Queen II  was a great step-up from their first album , in my opinion. So will this growth continue with this album? Absolutely! The first song on this album is none other than the legendary, Brighton Rock. This song starts with some playful vocals from Freddie, with a tension filled guitar in the background building up to something. And that something is the legendary 3 minute guitar solo, that Brian May absolutely killed. Next we have the calmer Killer Queen, but this song is still an absolute bop. The guitar on this song is stellar and the vocal performance Freddie puts on this song is just great. Tenement Funster was pretty mediocre. First of all, I didn't feature any Freddie, and neither was the guitar anything special. Wasn't very memorable. Moving on, we have the epic Flick of The Wrist. With a super catchy melody, great hook and epic guit

Depresión Sonora - Depresión Sonora

Welcome back to my blog! With the intention of spicing things up a bit during the reviewing of long discographies, such as those from Queen and Pink Floyd, I will be reviewing artists with shorter discographies. And this artist right her, has only 2 albums. Oh, well. So, who is this guy? Depresión Sonora is a Spanish artist who does makes post punk music, similiar to Molchat Doma and The End of Electronics . Only this time, it's   g r o o v y . Whilst Molchat Doma has cool, synthwave inspired tracks, Depresión Sonora has straight up vibe tracks. Anyway, I've talked to much, let's get into the review. The first track we have is Hasta Que Llegue la Muerte. Even though this track has a rather dark meaning, it has some energetic drums and really catchy guitar and hook. An amazing start to the album. Next we have Mira Mis Ojos, featuring a darker vibe, similiar to something from Этажи . The slow beat, darker guitar melodies and deeper vocals, remind me of Molchat Doma a lot.

Pink Floyd - Ummagumma

Image
Greetings, my friends. I welcome you back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's third album and first without founding member, Syd Barrett, Ummagumma. For those wondering what the name means, it's supposedly Cambridge slang for s3x, most commonly used by a friend of Pink Floyd, Iain Moore. That's odd, given the contents of the album. Let's see what those contents are... Now, the first 4 tracks of the record are live performances, 3 of which being songs from the previous two albums, as such I will not be discussing them. However, the other track is a new one, that would only be heard during live concerts. Careful With That Axe Eugene has a slow, calming start, that is broken around the three minute mark, by some almost demonic sounding screeches, combined with a great guitar solo. This energetic motif would go one until around the six minute mark, where the calmer melody returns, and would continue until the rest of the song. A great track overall. Next, w

Queen - Queen II

Image
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. How are you all doing? Today, I will be reviewing Queen's second album, the ingeniously titled, Queen II. I don't really have anything else to say, so... let's just crack on. Starting off the album, we have Procession, which is just a short guitar solo. Pretty neat. Then the fun really starts with Father To Son. It features a powerful guitar driven melody, with pounding drums, mixed with Freddie's vocals, give off an almost monumental feel, as if this the point in the adventure where really gets on to it. The majority of White Queen was a more vocal driven song, with some guitar sprinkled in. And then, the last minute is a more rock song. This song didn't really leave an impression on me though. Some Day One Day started off quiet, with mostly just hi-hats mixed with some vocals. Slowly, the guitar brought in, however it didn't stay for long, as the song was coming to a close. The Loser In The End was a slow rock song. No

Queen - Queen

Image
Welcome back everyone to my blog. Today, I will start reviewing the legendary discography of Queen. No introduction needed here, we all know who Queen is. Let's get straight into their self entitled first album. Starting off, we have Keep Yourself Alive, a decent rock 'n' roll sounding song. The guitar was great, but the drums felt very empty, and was one of the main reasons this track isn't so good. Doing Alright started off with a calm melody, reminiscent of Pink Floyd 's later work, more abstract in nature. However, around the 2 minute mark, the track suddenly shifts to another rock 'n' roll-esc song, and then back to a calm section. This song, while a bit odd in nature, was a great song actually. Moving on, we have Great King Rat, with a highly energetic feel to it, Brian May's guitar work, being absolutely stunning on this track. My man just goes bonkers. Then, around the middle of the track, it switches to a calmer section, then back to a high ene

Pink Floyd - A Saucerful of Secrets

Image
Greetings everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Pink Floyd's second studio album, A Saucerful of Secrets. Not much else to say, let's just jump into it. Starting off the album, we have Let There Be More Light, which starts off with a really catchy bass melody, of all things. And only after more than a minute, does Pink Floyd bring in a lead guitar. The riff towards the end is just amazing, the distortion and reverb make the guitar sound so heavy and spacey. The drums are especially powerful in this song, and I love how the song gets more and more chaotic as the track ends. Remember A Day was a pretty calm track, with some surprisingly soothing vocals and lovely piano melody. The bass sounds really nice on this track, and so does the guitar, only this time, it's a bit quiter. Set The Control For The Heart of The Sun was an abstract song, with some quiet drums, calm bassline and a piano driven lead, also incorporating SFX. This is another great track.

Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, we are starting a new discography for the legendary prog rock band, Pink Floyd. Once again, similiar to how I was introduced to Aphex Twin , Jojo was the main reason I checked out their music. They did not disappoint at all. And now with that my  blog exists, I can talk about their beautiful discography (At the time of writing this post, I have already listened to all of their albums, up until The Wall). With that being said, let's jump straight into the review. We start with the thumping Astronomy Domine. This track was very energetic and had some very nice sounding guitar. Little to no lyrics are sang in this song, and are instead replaced by samples and loud guitars. A pretty good start to the album. Next we have Lucifer Sam. This song's instrumental had an almost Gorillaz-sounding feel to it. The dark guitar melodies and powerful drums made for a relatively OK track. Moving on, we have Matilda Mother. Featuring a slower beat a

Top 20 Aphex Twin Songs

Image
Hello everyone, welcome to my blog. Today I will be ranking my top 20 Aphex Twin songs. Why 20? Because of his enormous discography, I am unable to rank only 10 songs. They're just so good!  20) Polynomial-C: I love the late 90s EDM vibe this song has. The airy, dramatic synths, the fast beats, they all work together so well.  19) Hexagon: This track has a beat. Surprising considering it's on Selected Ambient Works II . Anyway, this song has a really nice synth melody and surprinsingly hard hitting beat.  18) Cock/ver10: Very energetic and bombastic beats, glitchy melodies. It's just epic. And of course, we can't forget the Aphex Acid at 2:49. Unforgetable.  17) 4: This song is calm and upbeat at the same time. The super fast beat, the soothing synths and violin-sounding melodies. Really epic song.  16) Z Twig: All I really have to say is that this sounds like a Minecraft music disc. And I love it!  15) Lichen: it's calm.  14) Vordhosbn: I has really nice feel to it

Top 10 The End of Electronics Songs

Welcome back to my blog. Today I will be ranking my top 10 favourite TEoE songs. As always, this is entirely my opnion, you can disagree with it, you can write your list in the comment section if you wish.  10) Decadence: Has a sense of melancholy to it. A pretty simple track overall, but really delivers, especially the guitar. 9)  Proleterian Gothic: This song has a faster beat and a sense of urgency. The drums feel heavier than on other songs on Safety Guidlines . The guitar sounds absolutely amazing on this song. 8) Goddess of The Underground: This song has a dark feel to it. The bassline feels especially powerful on this song. The drums are also amazing. 7) Video Recorder: This track has a melancholic vibe to it, as I mentioned in the Union review, it sounds like your journey has been cut short due to something or someone dangerous in your vicinity. 6) Cosmonaut: This song also has a melancholic vibe to it, the vocals feel very oppressive and powerful, and the guitar sounds plain

Various Works From Aphex Twin

Image
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be reviewing the various singles and EPs that Mr. Richard D. James has released under the pseudonym, Aphex Twin. I will be doing this for every other band or singer I will be reviewing, if the said artist has enough. For example, The End of Electronics has only one single, and as such, I cannot make an entire review for only one song. With that being said, this might just be the longest post I have ever made, so strap in folks. This is gonna be a long one. ~~~ Analogue Bubblebath (1991) I know that this wasn't originally released under the Aphex Twin nickname, but I will still be reviewing it. Starting off the album we have the track, Analogue Bubblebath. It has a very clear 85-92 vibe to it, and is surprisingly calm and soothing to listen to. Than a sudden change for more intense melodies, Isoprophlex reminded me of the less beat driven songs on ...I Care Because You Do , squelchy sounding synths and glitchy drums. Still pr

The End of Electronics - Safety Guidelines

Image
Hey Ya! Welcome back to the blog. Today, I will be reviewing The End of Electronics' second album, Safety Guidelines. After listening to his first album, Union, and seeing how there was still room for improvement, I was hoping that Mr. Skarletov would turn the production up a notch. Well, all I can say is that he exceeded my expectations by a lot!  Starting off the album, we have the ominous Citizen. The vocals are much calmer and the guitar sounds really cool. The record is starting off strong!  Next we have Doppelganger, featuring a powerful synth lead and great vocals. Also, I should mention that the vocals sound much cleaner than in Union. Decadence had a slower beat and a more melancholic vibe compared to the previous 2 songs. The vocals felt sadder than usual and so did the guitar. Very cool song though!  Moving on, we have Proletarian Gothic. A very energetic song, featuring a very nice guitar lead and vocals. The bassline in this song was one of the best I had seen.  Goddes

Aphex Twin - Syro

Image
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Aphex Twin's sixth studio album, Syro. Keep in mind that it had been 13 years since Aphex Twin's last studio album at the time of this record's release. While Mr. Richard's previous album, DrukQs, was a an absolute masterpiece, I have heard a lot of people bad-mouth this album for being to bland. Let's see if that's true...  Starting off the album, we have minipops 67. A rather calm beat-oriented track, mixed with some distorted vocal samples and an acid house-like synth. Towards the end of the track, more vocal samples are added in, which add a very nice feel to this song. A great start to this album.  Next we have XMAS_EVET10, with a slow beat, similiar to minipops 67, difference being this track brings in more synths, that add a very alien feel to it, just like any other song from this guy. My only gripe with this song is that drags on for way to long. I sure 10 minutes is a bit of an exagera
