Pink Floyd - The Final Cut
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing The Final Cut. This album is often considered a lesser version of The Wall. Personally, I don't find The Wall itself that impressive. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Anyway, let's see how this album stands up.
We open on The Post War Dream. A slow, organ driven song and soft vocals. Nothing else to say here.
Your Possible Pasts is a decent rock song, with a nice guitar solo. But it generally doesn't have that much substance.
One Of The Few is a short acoustic guitar interlude. Pretty nice song.
When The Tigers Broke Free was a decent song, but it was too dramatic. The vocals were awful on this track, and the instrumental was just way too overblown.
The Hero's Return was a mediocre song. The vocals were also pretty bad here as well.
The Gunner's Dream was actually pretty nice. The saxophone on here was very smooth, and the slow beat added to the atmosphere. The vocals were also pretty good.
Paranoid Eyes was just forgettable. A lot of the songs on here are just forgettable.
Get Your Filthy Hands Of My Desert was a short, mainly vocal interlude.
The Fletcher Memorial Home was another overally dramatic song with bad vocals. I'm surprised by the level of incompetence that Mr. Roger Waters could deliver in the vocal department. The guitar solo was pretty good tho.
Southhampton Dock was a short acoustic interlude, with actually good vocals.
The title track was was decent. The guitar solo towards the end was pretty nice, but apart from that, nothing else.
Not Now John was another decent song, but the vocals on here were just awful. The choir sounded so cheesy, it did not need to be there. The instrumental was pretty good, but that's about it.
Two Suns In A Sunset was a mediocre end to the album. Nothing to say about it.
The album in general was rather bland, with very few good songs, and little to no substance at all. One of the most forgettable records I have ever heard.
