Death Grips - Year Of The Snitch

 Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing Death Grips' latest LP, at the time of writing this, Year Of The Snitch. After Bottomless Pit, I was hoping to see more catchy, but glitchy and distorted music from the group on this next album. That's wasn't quite what I got...

We open with Death Grips Is Online, which is one of the better cuts. It features a guitar filling the soundscape. Whilst the chorus isn't the most interesting, the verse are some the group's best and dirtiest sounding.

Flies is... oh no... NO NOT THE NLDW SPARSE MIXES. The song sounds empty, the drums are bland, the synths are boring. No, not again.

Oh, nevermind, Black Paint is fat, dirty and distorted, that's what I like. The vocals are buried under the mix. The guitar is great, and the bass is super heavy.

And then we return to the empty mixes with Linda's In Custody. The song is boring, the hook is bland. The synths sound so cheap, but at least the vocals are pretty nice.

The Horn Section is a short interlude, which really doesn't bring anything new to the table. It's sounds cheap.

Hahaha is one of the better songs on here. I love the synths and guitar on here. Especially the guitar fills, they sound so sad and hopeless, and you know how I feel about sad guitar music.

Sh!tshow, whilst short, is incredibly memorable for it's deranged vocals and heavy bass.

Streaky, on the other hand, sounds like some of those boring songs from Government Plates. The synths sound cheap, and the drums sound way too synthetic.

Dilemma is more of the same. Cheap synths, but at least the drums sound pretty good.

Little Richard is by far the worst song on here. The vocals have some weird effects that make them sound so dull and uninspired, that it makes me wonder: Did the band make this album cause they were bored? Because it does sound like that.

The Fear. Again, boring, but with a guitar this time.

Outro is a short interlude which mainly focuses around a rock sample, which is somehow more interesting than the previous tracks.

And we close on the boring closer that expresses my feelings about this album: Disappointed.

Aside from a few better cuts, I do not see myself returning to this album. It's boring, it's uninspired, and it's lacks any substance.

The End of Electronics - Union

  Welcome back everyone to my blog. Today I will be reviewing The End of Electronics' first album, Union. As I mentioned in my   Voskhod review , I found out about this one-man band because of my affinity with Molchat Doma. I listened to his first album, and have to say... this album is pretty good. Not the best, but still really good. Let's dive deeper into it, shall we?  Kicking off the album is Night. It has a really interesting vibe to it, feeling like it's the beginning of your journey, and look out the window of your vehicle, you see rural areas and small towns. That's the feel thus song gives me. It has an amazing chorus instrumental and is just overall really well made!  Moving on, we have the oddly melancholic Union. Not that there is anything bad with that, but the instrumental gives me a sadder vibe. It really cool, it feels like the journey has taken a break, and you stopped at a gas station. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Volume II

Greetings everyone! Quick disclaimer, this will be a long post, so grab yourself some tea while you read. Anyway, today I will be reviewing Aphex Twin's second album, Selected Ambient Works Volume II. After the amazing EP that was 85-92 , I had high hopes for this album. With that being said, let's get straight into the review. Right off the bat, Cliffs (I will be referring to the fan names) was a great start to the album, it's main motif being a woman's vocals being repeated constantly over the soothing ambient chords. I could hear the woman say "песня" (pesnya), which means song in Russian. Then suddenly, Radiator was a pretty creepy song, with a repeating melody that sounded like a stock phone alarm for some reason. Even though it had some very eerie chords, it was overall a pretty enjoyable track. But then, after the song had ended, Rhubarb's calm, welcoming chords started playing, giving me a comforting feel and was overall just a super chill, meditat...
