The End of Electronics - Voskhod
Well hello there! How are you fine beings doing? Today, I will be reviewing The End of Electronics' newest album, Voskhod. First of all, a bit of context. TEoE is a one-man band, lead by Nikita Skarletov. He mainly does post-punk, similiar to another great band, Molchat Doma (tell me in comments if you wanna see reviews on them). I have listened to Mr. Skarletov's previous two albums, and must say that they are masterpieces (tell me in the comments if you want me to review them as well).
Kicking off the album, we have The Rise. I didn't find it very memorable apart from the amazing bassline of the song. It had something to it, but it felt very comforting.
Ring was pretty similiar to The Rise, not finding it very memorable as other songs, but enjoyed their basslines.
Fire was a change for the better, with it having a faster beat. Alongside it's amazing guitar and much more enjoyable vocals than the previous songs.
Speed for some reason felt much more ominous in tone, which was helped by the vocals. I think this might be my favourite song from the album.
Film was a simple song. All I must say is that the guitar in this song is absolutely amazing. It gave the song a unique, almost wild western feel to it.
Finally, we have Cosmonaut. With it's sad undertone, it was a great ending to such an amazing album.
Overall, this album, though short, packed in some amazing songs and even though the first 2 weren't very memorable, they were overpowered by the other 4 songs. In fact, there weren't any remotely bad songs on here, just less memorable ones. So overall, great job Mr. Skarletov!
