Queen - A Day At The Races
Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today, I will be reviewing the follow up to A Night At The Opera, A Day At The Races. Let's get straight into this album.
We start with the epic Tie Your Mother Down. What can I say? Killer guitar, powerful beat, amazing vocals, this is an amazing start to the album!
In contrast, You Take My Breath Away is a soothing piano melody, with a few vocal harmonies sprinkled in for a great track.
Long Away was a nice slow track, which for some reason reminded me of Wham's Last Christmas. It was another great song, nonetheless.
The Millionaire Waltz, as the title implies, was a waltz style song, which started with mainly a piano, and Freddie's delicate vocal performance. Towards the end, they brought in a guitar and drums to give a touch of rock to this song.
You And I was a nice, simple rock song, much shorter compared to other tracks on this album, but still a great song.
somebody to love. need i say more?
White Man was an epic rock song, that felt almost cinematic with it's pounding drums, amazing guitar, but slower beat, ending the track with a mainly vocal section.
Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy was a shorter and simpler track. Nothing much else to say.
Drowse didn't really do it for me. It didn't really like the guitar on this song, nor the vocals.
Teo Torriatte, on the other hand, was a beautiful ending to this album, featuring lyrics in Japanese and amazing vocal harmonies.
What can I say? I have seen people praise A Night At The Opera, but not that much love for this album. I must say, people should also pay attention to this record, because it is stellar!
