Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be reviewing the self-titled debut from rap super duo, Kids See Ghosts. This duo is comprises of Kanye and Kid Cudi. On this album, we see the group discussing topics of mental health and other similiar themes. One of the main accomplishments this album has under it's belt is a perfect 10 out of 10 from Anthony Fantano, the melon man himself. So will I give the same score to this album? Let's see...

We open with Feel The Love, where Cudi shouts out that he can still feel the love. After a short verse from Pusha T, we see Kanye pretending to be gun, screaming throughout the chorus. This sets the tone for the rest of album, as a beautiful and triumphant Friday evening. At least, that's the vibe the album gives me.

Fire focuses around a Western sounding sample. The song has much more menacing, yet groovy sound. The hook from Cudi is very catchy as well. It's short, but it's very memorable.

4th Dimension features another sample, which comprises the main melodic line. The rapping is clean, and it hit hard. Once again, very short, but very punchy.

Freeee, really does sound like your free. The song sounds triumphant and the bars are the same. I know I'm not very descriptive about these songs, but it's because there just simple and very well produced.

Next we have Reborn, which is the longest song on here. Cudi's hook is beautiful, the song discusses themes of alienation, and they're just gorgeous. The whole track is mellow, yet uplifting. It sounds so warm, like a Summer evening.

Kids See Ghosts is definetly my favourite song on here. The simple instrumental fits the song very well. Kanye's verse is tight, and Cudi's voice is beautiful, as usual. And I love how at the end the vocal chop fills the soundscape, it's amazing.

And the closer, Cudi Montage is a very good closer. Whilst the instrumental is one of least interesting ones on the album, the vocals are just amazing, and continues this low-key relaxed vibe that the entire album has.

This record is very short. 7 songs, totaling up to only 23 minutes long. And that's what it does best. It doesn't overstay it's welcome, half the songs on here last around only three minutes, more or less, with only one song lasting 5 minutes. This album is easy, chill and a very nice listen.

Favourite songs: All
Score: 10/10
